Hannah Nawirridj

Malak, Northern Territory

Gymnast, role model

Hannah started gymnastics at age two and now has her heart set on wearing the green and gold. She is the first Territorian to qualify for the Australian Team Future Squad and was the Northern Territory’s first Indigenous gymnast to compete at the nationals, where she was a flag bearer. Her parents have made a lot of sacrifices to ensure Hannah can train and attend competitions across the nation. Hannah is especially proud of the fact that her father, a Kunwinjku man from Western Arnhem Land, sells his traditional paintings to support her dream.
