Pole vaulter, Rio 2016 Olympian

Not many South Australians would forgo a promising AFL career to devote themselves to pole vaulting. Yet Kurtis believes has clearly made the right decision by channelling his energies into the Olympic sport back in high school. Since receiving his AMP Tomorrow Fund grant, he has jumped up the ranks. During the European summer, he cleared the best height for a junior in three years. Soon after was named on the Australian team for Rio 2016 – and is the first Australian male pole vaulter to compete at an Olympics. Kurtis is now closer to his ‘ultimate life goal’ – winning Olympic gold: “I want to get the message out that anyone who wants something bad enough can achieve anything.”
