Liam Twomey

Carnegie, Victoria

Paralympic hopeful, lifeguard

Losing part of his leg to cancer as a child left Liam feeling uncomfortable with his body and lacking in confidence, so sport was never a priority. In his early twenties, after years of bad habits, he decided it was time to embrace a healthy lifestyle. He took the plunge and started swimming in 2016 – removing his prosthesis in public for the first time. A few short years later he is not only a qualified swimming coach and life guard, but also a promising young para-triathlete. After a strong start in the field, he has started representing Australia and hopes to inspire people of all abilities for many years to come.
