Tristan McCarthy

Fitzroy Crossing, Western Australia

Budding small business owner

Born and raised in Fitzroy Crossing, Tristan recently completed Year 12. Living with fetal alcohol syndrome, he found classroom learning challenging. But midway through high school, Tristan realised there was plenty to learn outside. Through helping the school gardener, he has gained an understanding of horticulture and garden maintenance and has taken on lawn mowing jobs in his community. Tristan is using his AMP Tomorrow Fund grant to buy equipment to help him set up his own lawn-mowing business. “I like earning money so I can buy things that I like. I like to try my hardest to do a good job so that people will ask me to mow their yard again the next time.”
