Bree Meara-Hendy

Zillmere, Queensland

Opera singer

Bree started singing lessons when she was a high school student in Toowoomba. Her teacher, a former opera singer, helped her to develop a love for classical music. After six years studying opera at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music, the mezzo soprano joined the Outcast Performing Arts company. The grant enabled Bree to travel to Europe for tuition in operatic singing, movement, historical dance and Italian. In early 2016, Bree accepted a Young Artist position at Pacific Opera, where she is learning more about stagecraft and the music business, and getting the chance to perform in fully staged opera. In March 2017, Bree joined the chorus of Opera Australia’s ‘Carmen’ on Sydney Harbour: “I have no doubt that my international experience in London and Siena prepared me for my Pacific Opera audition and helped me stand out. I am so grateful for the opportunity that the AMP Tomorrow Fund gave me.”
