Dr Cherie Hugo
Accredited practising dietitian, aged care advocate
In 2013, Cherie founded The Lantern Project in response to the unacceptably high levels of malnutrition in aged care facilities. The national project brings members of the aged care sector together to collaboratively raise the bar on the aged care food, nutrition and mealtime experience through research, education and the development of innovative solutions. Cherie’s PhD research, which she undertook to support her advocacy, has now been translated into a national ratings tool for the industry. By transitioning The Lantern Project into a sustainable social enterprise that offers services such as education, resources and a scaled roll-out of this ratings tool, Cherie will continue to drive positive change in the sector.
