Hamish Finlayson

Townsville, Queensland

Community educator, app developer

Technology lover Hamish began to develop app games as a way to inspire young people to save turtles and stop littering. After the success of his LitterbugSmash suite of environmental apps, the 12-year-old shifted his focus towards apps that educate the community about autism spectrum disorder (ASD), which he lives with. Hamish is now developing apps to educate people about the autism spectrum and help them to read emotions. His first app in this series – ASD and Me – is a fun game designed to teach children useful strategies to help them understand autism. “People usually don’t understand autism and are therefore afraid of it. I am trying to teach people about autism.”
