Patrick Carroll Harris

Chatswood, New South Wales

Sports coach and young leader

In Year 7, Patrick started to disengage from school and hang around with the ‘wrong crowd’. By his mid-teens he was well acquainted with the local police. Realising that he had to escape the negative cycle he was in, he moved to Queensland to take up farm work. It proved to be the making of him. Now 24, he has since set up a sport and movement business for children and piloted The Pride, a coaching program for young men. The grant enabled Patrick to take part in the Columba 1400 Gemini leadership-training program in Scotland in 2015: “With some hard work and the right support, I turned my life around – and I hope to give many more young men the same opportunity.”
