Ryan Tilley

Albion, Victoria

Design engineer, accessibility entrepreneur

Growing up in the Sunraysia district gave Ryan a passion for the great outdoors. After becoming good friends with a wheelchair user, Ryan began to realise just how hard it can be for people with limited mobility to access bushland, beaches and parks. Determined to find a solution, Ryan developed Gecko Traxx – a “hiking boot for wheelchairs”.  This device clips onto standard wheelchair tyres to enable movement over uneven surfaces like sand or gravel. It’s affordable, portable and manufactured locally in Australia.  After honing his entrepreneurial skills, Ryan plans to share Gecko Traxx globally as the first in a range of products designed to increase inclusion and access to the great outdoors.
