Shaun believes “a smile and willingness to learn” can go far in the hospitality trade. As the co-founder of Colombo Social – a social enterprise restaurant serving Sri Lankan food in Sydney’s Inner West – he provides employment and training to people seeking asylum. When the COVID-19 lockdown struck, Shaun began working with established charities in Sydney to provide hot, nutritious meals to those who needed them. This gave Shaun the impetus to expand his enterprise for good. He is now growing Ability Social, an enterprise that provides meals as well as hospitality and food industry training and employment for vulnerable members of the community.
